About the Museum

Museu da Virada preserves what circulated between October 4 and 25, 2026, and celebrates the outcome. Lula was elected in the second round. That victory kept Brazilian democracy standing, and this room makes no pretense of distance from it.

Original quotation in Portuguese

Essa vitória manteve a democracia brasileira de pé.

Museu da Virada

The anthology follows events in order. First, how the candidates made it onto the ballot. Then, the night the right achieved historic results in Congress and the states, and Flávio Bolsonaro finished ahead of Lula. Next, the three weeks in which the streets, fandoms, a WhatsApp channel and a handful of newsrooms changed the tone of the campaign. Finally, the night of October 25, when the order at the polls was reversed, Flávio’s departure two days later, and what remains in the collection.

The presidential election percentages come from the official TSE files preserved here. The rest is in the reporting cited at the end of each section. Where an item has already been archived, the text links to its record.
